So Benjamin loves to put on Daddy's hat that he bought for the trek and I thought that I would share with you!

Pioneer Trek
This last weekend we got to go on a Pioneer Trek with the youth in our stake. We got to be a ma and pa. It was a lot of fun. The first day we walked 5.5 miles into camp and then we had a fireside and hung out the rest of the night. The second day we only walked between 3 and 4 miles, but we had someone faint on the trail due to dehydration. It was scary. Then that night we had games to play and we got to wash our hair. President Rawson and his wife gave a fireside that night as well and we had a testimony meeting afterwards. The last day we got up really early so we could beat the heat because it was going to be near 100 degrees with high humidity. I think we hiked 5 miles and met up with the buses. We got to cross a couple rivers as well which was really fun and it was really windy so it made for a pretty nice day. Michael's parents came and watched Benjamin while we were gone, so we owe them many thanks because we were able to go on the trek. Benjamin loved having his grandparents here because they spoiled him rotten. They bought him a pool and a sand box and gave him lots and lots of attention. We miss them and were sad to see them leave. It's hard being away from family, but we love it here in Kansas.

Darian's Birthday Party
Today we went to a birthday party for Darian. He is in our ward and we are good friends with their family. We went to High Park and ate chicken and yummy salads and played on all the fun playground equipment. Michael got to come for a little while on his lunch break too. Susan brought the little girl that she nannys for and her little grandbaby, and Sister Behm brought her two little girls and her baby. It was a lot of fun and they really enjoyed playing at the park!

Our Little Artist
For Family Home Evening this last week I taught a lesson out of the nursery manual so we can start getting Benjamin more involved in the lessons. We talked about being a child of God and the lesson has a picture of a boy and a girl that can be colored for the activity so I printed it out to see if Benjamin would be interested in coloring it. He absolutely loved it! He would even want to change colors to get a variety :) Maybe he will be an artist like Uncle Parker.

Benjamin also loves to play the piano. He really likes to push the buttons on mom's keyboard and his favorites are the ones that turn on the different types of background beats.

Halley's Flower Bed in Progress
So we've been slowly getting my flower bed so it looks nice. We have done quite a bit so far since the weather has been nice. This might be as far as we get this year. We'll see. It depends on our money situation. There's a lot of things I want to get done. Here are some pictures of what we have done so far.

I had tilled the main part with a shovel and hard work and then Doc Scott came over to till our garden and he did my flower bed as well. It took him like 10 minutes to go over it where it took me a million years! Okay maybe not that long, but it was a lot longer than 10 minutes becasue I don't have a cool machine. At least I got a workout. I am going to put a bird bath in the center of the bigger bulge and put red mulch around it and then the rest of that part is going to be perennial flowers. I have them picked out but we haven't bought them yet.

In this area there is going to be a bench along the fence over the stone and then there's going to be some flowers in the dirt to the side. We planted those last night. And then we made a little walkway out of the red stepping stones. The walkway is going to continue into the back section once we get that done and then it will fork back into the front bigger section. We're really excited! I think it's going to look really cool!

The gate in this picture is kind of skewed because this is where Benjamin gets in and plays in the dirt! If we put the gate up while he is in there he gets upset and pushes it down and then goes back to playing in the dirt. He absolutely LOVES playing with a shovel in the dirt, but we don't know where a park is that has sand in the playground. It's either mulch or rubber. Maybe someday we'll make a sandbox for him :)
We hope everyone has a GREAT EASTER and a fabulous week!!!
