Potty Training

Benjamin hasn't had the desire at all to get potty trained so we bought him a pop up tent of Thomas to entice him to want to go potty. He went a couple of times and then lost interest in going potty. He just wanted to play with the train. So the Friday before conference I told him that if he went without a diaper until Daddy came home from work then we could go get ice cream. So all that day he ran around the house naked and went potty in the "Big Boy Potty" with only one or two accidents and when Daddy came home we went to get ice cream. We did the same thing Saturday and Sunday while we were home watching General Conference and he chose some ice cream cones and ice cream sandwiches that he could have as a reward for going potty and I think he only had one accident between those two days. So after the weekend I tried putting him in underwear and as soon as he had underwear on he went potty in his underwear. I took them off again and he doesn't have a single accident. His subconscience tells him that there's something on his bumb so he can go in his underwear or something. Well, I let him go some more just running around without pants on and we've occasionally tried to put underwear on without much success. Yesterday I put underwear on him and he went and sat on the potty without taking his underwear down and went potty. So that was a step in the right direction. Today, he actually ran to the potty and I told him to take his underwear down so he did and he went potty. So hopefully he will be completely potty trained soon. Here's a picture of Benjamin in his underwear. Yesterday we got some Buzz and Thomas underwear so hopefully that will be more incentive to want to wear them.

Rachel's Pictures from September

Here are some pictures that were taken during August of Rachel and Benjamin.

Zoo Trip

This is our most recent trip to the zoo. We're wanting to go this Saturday too so maybe we'll have more cute pictures this weekend. The hippo tank was actually clean this time so we were able to see the hippos from underneath while they were in the water. The gorilla that we have pictures of is a new gorilla and he was very interactive with those watching him. He would stare at you through the glass and go from one person to the next, rather than ignoring you. He also started running all of a sudden from one end of the habitat to the next. It was really cool! They can move so fast! The bear was also really cute. There was a ball in the water and she pulled it up out of the water and rested her chin on as if to pose for pictures. Benjamin loves the zoo so our zoo membership was worth it this year. We went quite a few times. It's more enjoyable now that it's not so hot though. This year we broke the record of consecutive days over 100 degrees. I think we were over 100 for at least 2 months. Needless to say, we didn't go outside very much this summer.
